It’s sometimes easy to forget that ingredients in beauty products can have a negative effect on our health. Nowadays it’s very important to watch what we eat and are putting in our bodies but it’s very important to have the same mindset when it comes to beauty products.

This was one of the pillars on why EREZ Organic was created. Knowing what’s in your beauty product and educating consumers. There is also the problem in regulation and oversight. For example, we know exactly what does organic food mean and what it should not be. But for beauty products this is not exactly the case. That’s why we created this list of ingredients that are better to avoid.

SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES

Most of the products in the beauty industry are labeled simply “fragrance” or “perfume”. This often just means many chemicals mixed together to create a non-natural scent. The user has no way in knowing what’s inside, as the companies are not required to disclose that.

This applies also to Phthalates, which are a part of the “fragrance” ingredient. Usually used to make perfume, nail polish and other beauty products. They can cause endocrine disruption and are not great for the environment either.

That’s why at EREZ Organic we offer only NATURAL fragrances (100% natural, composed of raw materials accepted by Ecocert in the composition of certified organic cosmetics). We also offer fragrance free cosmetic for sensitive skin.  

PARABENS 

Parabens are synthetic compounds, which are used in health and beauty products. If those products contain methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben, it has parabens. They are linked to hormone disruption and are linked to breast cancer. Many natural cosmetic companies, like us, have found a better way to prevent microbial growth in our products. This may mean a shorter shelf life of the products but it’s worth it! 

SILOXANES 

Siloxanes are also known as silicones that are found in numerous beauty products. It is added to those because it improves performance. In other words, this can provide smoothness to the texture and you can find it in most moisturizers and foundations. It has been found to be very toxic and can link to fertility issues. On top of that it is also bad for the environment.

PFA and PFCs

PFAs and PFCs are basic chemical building blocks that consist of hundreds to thousands of chemicals hidden by a simple name. They can be found in most beauty products such as sunscreens, shaving creams and also hair products. Most people recognize them by the material that makes waterproof jackets, car wax and non-sticky pans. Nobody wants this in a beauty product. PFAs and PFCs can result in cancer and thyroid disease.
